SUMMER DREAMING IS A WOMEN, NON-BINARY AND GENDER DIVERSE LED SOCIAL ENTERPRISE. WE CREATE MUSIC AND ART EVENTS THAT PROMOTE COMMUNITY, DANCE AND CONNECTION.
We are mid-skilled event workers who want to see radical change in the music and arts industry. We want to see more women, non-binary and gender diverse led events, with representation both on stage and behind the scenes. We want a more inclusive music and arts industry, with career progression, skill development and supportive work environments that promote mental health care and social connection.
We want to see change now - and we’re here to be the change.
SUMMER DREAMING WAS FOUNDED IN 2018 THROUGH YLAB'S REIMAGINING NORTHSIDE PROGRAM.
In 2019 we ran a 3 month training program with Kim and Lucinda leading a team of five young women to deliver a 150 person one day music festival. The five hour event hosted four musicians, and five workshops with lunch provided and for the accessible ticket price of $20.
Now, we are creating events which foster community, no matter the size.
SUMMER DREAMING WAS FOUNDED AND OPERATES ON THE UNCEDED LANDS OF THE WURUNDJERI PEOPLE OF THE KULIN NATION.
First Nations knowledge should always be prioritised, and White Australia needs to check themselves, and the narrative we tell ourselves. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders are one of the oldest, continuous living culture on this planet, and lived on this country 60,000 years prior to colonisation. To ignore First Nations culture, stories, and lives, is to our detriment. Always was, always will be, Aboriginal Land.
We Pay the Rent - as all Australians should.
